‘I just cannot believe how much I have had my eyes opened to the way that different people live and to the way that they see things. I’ve realised what a tough challenge a behavioural
conservationist faces.’

What a place to go to learn project planning and management for wildlife conservation! To put the ocean into the picture for me was enormous – there are things I learnt that will be with me forever.’

‘Just being able to be and to see without being overloaded by rules is an incredibly helpful way to learn. I’ve come away with a great experience and a valuable certificate. I’m firmly on the path of conservation management.’

Kenya’s Great Rift Valley

Dates: 26th June to 8th July 2025

This is a fast-paced course that is a broad overview of non-protected areas versus
protected areas in Kenya. We look at land uses, human-wildlife conflict, the value of land diversification and its resulting impact on wild populations. We will game-drive, walk, track, sniff with K9 teams, look at ethology and determine why things seem to be as they are. Students can get hands on with a variety of skulls to determine adaptation and hopefully have elephant and lion walk through our camp at night!

The Indian Ocean

Dates: September 27th to October 11th 2025

Project Planning, Management and Monitoring and Evaluation are the building blocks of any successfully reached conservation goal. Why not learn these ‘on the ground and in the action‘ on the shores of the Indian Ocean?

While learning you will actively partake in helping in the coral regeneration projects, you will take a close look at what conservation project management and planning looks like – be a part of stakeholder assessments and meetings, fine-tune your observation skills for M&E and feel what its like to be on a team.

Max 14 students, shared beachside accommodation at Oceans Alive, Bahari Yetu Innovations Centre in Vipingo.

Putting your project management skills to the test and learning that wildlife management is a very real and nuanced skill in a fenced protected area.

We will undertake monitoring and evaluation, building on all previous data collected – we will learn how to plan and plot these into trip reports.

Around Botswana

Choose to do any one of our courses while on the move in
camps across Botswana. We will have space to learn in a
camp in Khwai, a wildlife rich region right on the Eastern
side of Botswana’s famous Okavango delta.

Depending on how many weeks you book we will have the
chance to take your learning to the fringes of the Kalahari
too and then a third camp which will be mobile.

We are able to take full cohorts of students here,
especially for conservation project management and
planning as you will be in areas that will really allow you to develop plans and concepts and follow trackers and work with those who are fully involved in conservation project
management.

Perfect for university study abroad students or those
looking to do paid internships.
